Every Christian should strive to exercise in Christian leadership qualities so we are always prepared to let the light of the Gospel message shine in us and through us as we be inviting to others by the power of the Holy Spirit to draw them closer to Christ.
It is the great commission of Christians to have or develop spiritual purpose that is always ready to give the great reasons why following Jesus and obeying the Word of God brings spiritual freedom through the love, peace, hope and joy of the Lord.
Paul the Apostle wrote to Timothy about being a leader in sound doctrine, dealing with conflict and remaining where Timothy was to teach and edify with a pure heart, a good conscience and strong faith…
Call to Leadership from Paul the Apostle
1 Timothy 1:3-5
3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
This passage from Timothy 1, written by Paul the Apostle to Timothy, is a call to leadership.
We are all leaders in some way in our lives whether it be at work, at home, in our churches or with friends.
There are 3 spiritual purposes in leadership that Paul beseeches Timothy with…
1. Remain – To abide or remain means we don’t give up on our delivery of the Gospel message to others in kind and thoughtful ways.
2. Dealing with Conflicts – Showing charity or love to others helps in dealing with conflicts.
3. Sound Doctrine – Being knowledgeable of the truth of Scripture makes for leadership to give quality Biblical advice.
The purpose to Remain – we can relate to this in our lives as not giving up on our marriages or jobs and being faithful to our Churches and to give each role our best.
Do not succumb to your limitations but think on what God can do with you as His instrument.
Be cheerful in your work and know and share the Lord’s joy and be always ready to give testament to the great things Jesus has done for you and in you.
Always be ready to suggest that the Lord is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6) and that the people you meet and greet can be saved with the love, peace, hope and joy of the Gospel message.
2. Deal with Conflicts
The purpose to Deal with Conflicts – having a pure heart, being of a good conscience and having faith unfeigned will help us to deal with others with love.
Not being caught up in legalism, but showing others the love of Christ can avoid unnecessary conflicts and will guide us to deal righteously with real conflicts…
25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
3. Sound Doctrine
The purpose to Be Knowledgeable in Sound Doctrine – If we want to share the love of Christ with others we must educate ourselves in the Gospel message.
This happens through the study of the word of God with direction from church Pastors in the truth of the Gospel.
We can always trust the Word of God to point us in the right direction, the direction towards Jesus Christ.
The devil tries every way he can to twist the Bible making it compromised by fables and ideas that are not really of the Bible.
The most glaring example of this in our day and digital age is new age spirituality that preaches any religion will get you to heaven and believing in the saving grace of Jesus is optional.
This is not the Gospel message, is not sound doctrine and should be rejected for the truth of the Gospel that says Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6) and ONLY by accepting Him as your Lord and Savior and repenting of your sins are you saved to a blessed eternity near God.
There are various versions of the idea that you don’t need Jesus for spiritual freedom so be very weary.
Stand Firm in Your Faith
Stand firm in your faith and lead others daily to be closer to the Gospel message, to be closer to Christ by showing love and affection.
Trust God and the Word of God always to make your paths straight, to make you upright and loving every day.
Seek out a Bible teaching Church that expresses the truth of the Gospel, sound doctrine, if you don’t already have one.

Mastering the Word of God – Read the Bible. Study the Bible. Meditate on the Bible. Listen to what others say about the Bible. Obey the Bible. Pass the Bible on to others.
Once you become well versed in the Bible, you will put on the full armor of the Lord that will empower you to guide others in sound doctrine, to deal with conflicts, to give you spiritual renewal to not give up and by the power of the Holy Spirit you will become deep and effective in your prayer life.
That’s right, don’t forget the great power of prayer and the help you have from the Holy Spirit in your quest for Christian leadership qualities and spiritual purpose in Christ.
