Christian Movie Download and Streaming Options Review

It is good to have options. If you are tired of secular TV and movie programming with all types of cursing and witchcraft and other things that go against what the Bible teaches then you may be ready for a refreshing change.

Guiding your family towards Christ is important, but secular programming is becoming more and more grotesquely against God and the Bible. There are great new options of family oriented Christian programming now available…

Welcome to my Review of your Christian Movie Download and Streaming options, I’m Alexander.

Crossflix, Pureflix and ChristianCinema.com allows you to Download Christian Movies to Any Device AND Stream Christian Movies to a Roku, FireTV or other TV streaming device.

This review will cover the differences between each Christian Movie Download and Streaming service that I know of; Crossflix, Pureflix and ChristianCinema.com.

Christian Movie Download and Streaming OptionsYour Options

ChristianCinema.com is faith based programming On Demand, so you pay per Christian Movie you watch. This option might be preferred for you if you just want to watch a Christian movie every so often.

Crossflix and Pureflix is unlimited downloading and streaming Christian programming for one low monthly fee.

Crossflix and Pureflix are both $10.99/mo, so very comparable.

The yearly subscription price varies slightly at $99 for Crossflix and $99.99 for Pureflix.

Crossflix delivers the best in faith and family entertainment, education and inspiration including the “Crossflix Living Bible Series,” which is a great educational tool to learn the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

Pureflix is a mix of family-friendly & wholesome entertainment including movies for all ages, kid’s animated titles, how-to’s, hobbies, educational, documentaries, health & fitness, sports, outdoors and travel plus many inspirational and devotional titles.

I prefer Crossflix because they have more categories that appeal to me like Biblical, Faith, Family, Drama, Comedy, Action, Christian Education, History of Jesus, Kids Animated and many Crossflix Originals.

Honestly, it’s a tough choice between Crossflix and Pureflix since they are so similar. I browsed the available categories and titles between Crossflix and Pureflix and felt Crossflix was right for me now, but I may try Pureflix also in the future.

IMPORTANT About Streaming

Many people are under the impression that they can get a Roku or FireTV or similar device for their TV and cancel their TV subscription and just watch what TV channels they want through their new device, but this is a misconception.

Many options are available for streaming to a Roku or similar device, but if you still want to watch channels like Fox News or ESPN or any other popular TV channel you will still need your TV subscription.

If you want to totally change your viewing habits and just watch streaming options then you can cancel your TV subscription.

For a full run down of why you can’t cancel your TV subscription and just watch your favorite channels over your streaming device check this Free Roku Guide.

If you need a streaming device for your TV, I recommend the streaming pioneer, Roku…

  • Roku Express, First Time Streamers
  • Roku Ultra, Heavy Streamers
  • Roku Streaming Stick, At Home or On The Go

Roku Devices are a one-time fee item. There are several Free Channel options available with Roku and many channels you would have to pay for if you want to subscribe.

Personally, I will be getting all my TV programming through my Crossflix subscription and the Roku Free channels from here on out which is a whole lot cheaper and secular TV programs appeal to me less and less.

Click Here to checkout the Roku Express and then you can click on compare to see other Roku options. I chose the Roku Ultra as this will be my only source for TV from now on.

  • We stopped watching regular TV several years ago.  The last thing our children need today is to be raised by these liberal TV shows.  So, we have been a Netflix, Hulu and Amazon family, so we can hand pick what our children watch.  I never realized that there were Christian networks available or I would have joined long ago.

Thank you for a very close look at the real options we have for Christian viewing.  Have a blessed day!  Clay

    • So glad to hear, Clay, that you are on careful watch of what your children view.

I feel very blessed and thankful to be able to offer these Christian movie and programming options to my readers and I hope you choose the service that is perfect for you and your family.

      God Bless You

  • Love these options, way better than what Netflix has to offer on any spiritual related movies. I was checking Christian Movies and it seems pretty interesting. Plus it’s free which is very inviting before making the decision of going into the paying plan.

I am just curious do these three offer the same movies or is there a wide variety of selection to choose from?

Thanks for pointing these out as I am follower of Christ as well and am always looking for something useful to watch rather than the gory and violence that movies throw out nowadays.

    • Hi Jag, thank you for your comment and question.

Some of the titles overlap, but each service is quite different as they offer their own originals. ChristianCinema.com probably has the widest selection as they are pay per view.

Ya, the secular movies are so bad these days with very few exceptions. I am enjoying my Crossflix subscription quite a lot and will cancel my cable TV subscription next month when the contract ends. Very refreshing to my mind and soul.

      Christ be with you.

  • Hi Alexander,

I cancelled my cable subscription and sold my TV about 10 years ago – and I’ve never looked back.  You’re right – the secular programming was getting so weird that there was nothing I wanted to watch.

It’s been almost half a century since TV programming was truly “family oriented.”  I don’t want to watch the stuff on TV today – and, if I’m not watching it, I sure don’t want my kids watching it.

There used to be many Christian shows and movies on the “boob tube” but, that’s all changed.

I’ve been wondering, lately, where I could find some decent faith-based programming and, I think the Crossflix 30 day free trial is a good place to start.

I’m glad to know that I might be able to also find some free movies on ChristianCinema.  I will take a look at what they have, too – since I’ve been wanting to download some of the old classics like “The Ten Commandments” and “Jesus Of Nazareth.”

    Thanks, for the info!

    Jim

    • Crossflix will serve you and your families Christian programming needs very well, Jim. I am real impressed by the Crossflix originals.

If your kids are little an want animated it might be worth taking a look at Pureflix also and do a comparison on the animated selections available for each one.

Christian Cinema is also a very interesting option because I think they have the widest selection with a few free ones and plenty to choose from under $2, 99 cents many times.

I really like the old Bible classics also and have several on DVD. There are some real good ones on Abraham, Joseph, David, Daniel and others.

Enjoy and God Bless You and Your Family.

  • As a Christian, I know the difficulty of finding wholesome family and religious programming. Once in a great while the TV networks come out with something that is worth watching, but most of the time it is all about violence and sex. It is hard to even let my granddaughter watch cartoons because of the language and innuendo. I had heard of Pureflix before and have considered subscribing, but after your review, I think Crossflix might actually be a better choice for my family.

I may have missed it or misunderstood, but did I understand you to say that Crossflix has more in the way of Biblical training or lessons, not just movies and TV? (Maybe that was just wishful thinking on my part!)

With a 5 year old impressionable granddaughter who found Family Guy while with her mother for a visit, I need some wholesome entertainment for her. Once you get those images in your head, it is hard to get them back out. I want her to not look for shows like that, but to look for shows that teach her values and about Christ.

    Thanks for your review!

    • Hi Karin, thank you for your comment and question.

Absolutely, Crossflix has the Living Bible Series starting from Genesis and will eventually get all the way through to Revelation so a great resource for Biblical lessons. They also have the Thinking Like A Christian series that covers how Christians should view things like politics and education and many more subjects.

I just watched Life’s Story on Crossflix which was such an enjoyable nature show that explains why evolution theory is total bunk. I’ve also been watching some great clean comedy.

So, lots of choices with Crossflix, but since you have a little one you might want to explore the differences between the animated selections on Crossflix vs. Pureflix.

Ya, that Family Guy show is bad news with all the rest of the secular programming.

No matter what you choose, Crossflix or Pureflix, I think you’ll be real happy and Christian Cinema is also pretty cool pay per view with probably the widest selection and many under $2, some free and several for 99 cents.

God Bless You, Karin and definitely get your granddaughter interested in the Christian programming, so much better.

  • This was an eye opening read for me due to I never even know about Crossflix and Pureflix I am defiantly going to check it out because in our day and age we need to be more educated about God. I really enjoyed your article and it had a lot of in-depth information. thank you

    • Yes, Genecia, it is a really good idea to start rejecting what is becoming quite perverse secular programming and embrace Christian programming to nourish your mind and soul in Christ.

If you want a Godly education, Crossflix is the best option with many choices in educating you on the Bible and Godly issues. You really can’t go wrong with Pureflix either if they have categories that appeal more to you.

I feel very blessed and thankful to be able to offer these Christian programming options to my readers – glad you enjoyed it.

      Christ be with you

  • Hey Alexander, cool post and a very interesting read. I have to say though that I’ve never heard of ChristianCinema but I think it is a good way for Christians to get reconnected to God, I have to ask if ChristianCinema has the show 7th Heaven on there; it’s a show my wife and I used to watch a long time ago and the show kind of grew on us. What other shows are on there, how often do you watch them? Anyway, your post was an awesome read and I enjoyed it. Great job!

    • Hi RJ, thank you for your comment and questions.

Christian Cinema probably has the widest selection with everything you can imagine with a Christ or God theme, but I didn’t see 7th Heaven on there.

I have only watched one free program so far on Christian Cinema as I am enjoying my Crossflix subscription, but very glad to have Christian Cinema as a back up.

You can sort the selections on Christian Cinema by New Release, Best Sellers, Top Rated, Genre and Theme. Then you can refine by price including under $2 to find the free ones and real low cost ones many at just 99 cents.

So, RJ, your choices for Christian programming are nearly unlimited with Christian Cinema and could keep the costs real low depending on your selections.

      Christ be with you.
