Spiritual Warfare Scriptures | Put On The Full Armor of God

Put on the FULL Armor of God by knowing these spiritual warfare Scriptures to keep you from poor choices as tempted by the devil.

Practicing obedience to Christ by being well versed in Scripture and obeying what you learn, praying and diligently seeking to follow in Christ’s example will keep you from sin whenever possible.

Repenting quickly when we falter, having a strong moral compass derived from study of the Bible, listening to gifted Pastors explain the Scriptures in depth and having a prayer life are ways of putting on the FULL Armor of God and resisting the devil’s mechanisms.

Spiritual Warfare ScripturesThe Essence of Spiritual Warfare

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Spiritual warfare is a thing that we encounter in the daily routines of our lives.

Just as Adam and Eve were tricked by the serpent into disobedience to God, so are we attacked by the devil daily to also be disobedient to God.

As we are going through the process of sanctification to be set aside by God for the glory of Christ, Satan will come and lie about the promises of God, both the blessings of God and the warnings of God – Satan will lie and try to trick us into sin and doubt.

Jesus Answered Temptation with Proper Scripture

Even Jesus was tempted after His fasting for 40 days and the devil used Scripture to challenge Jesus, yet the devil distorted the Scriptures and Jesus answered him back quoting proper Holy Scripture. (Matthew 4)

Therefore, it is essential that we study the word of God as part of our daily routines and through knowledgeable Pastors that we may repel the devil with proper knowledge of the Scriptures just as Jesus did.

There is great power that God has given us through proper knowledge of the Holy Scriptures.

We have a choice every day when things come against us like self-pity, but we can overcome with the word of God…

Proverbs 3:5-13

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

11 My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction:

12 For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

Psalm 14:1-5

1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the Lord.

5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.

Romans 3:21-26

21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Ephesians 6:10-18

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Prayer to Accept Jesus

Dear Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, I believe you died for my sins and I believe you are risen from the dead, forgive me for my sins, come into my life and make me new, I surrender my life to you and I receive you as my Lord and my Savior, take my life and make it yours, thank you for your love. In Jesus’ Great Name Amen.

Don’t be unprepared for the battle when Jesus can clothe you with the FULL Armor promised by God.

Taking on your problems and the world’s devices against you under only your own power is unnecessary and foolish.

Take God and His full blessings and Armor with you on your journey of life to know the peace, love, hope and joy of the Lord no matter what worldly battles you may face.

May you be exceedingly blessed in your daily prayers and study of the word of God that you have the FULL Armor of God to resist the devil in firm spiritual warfare and live your life like you’re really living with spiritual purpose.

  • Thanks for sharing. I am not a Christian neither a Catholic. But I do have a bible at home which I read. Is real wisdom when you really take time to understand every phrase. Because I am not native English speaking, therefore some phrases are difficult to understand. I actually like this phrase “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.” and truly agree!

    • Hi Florence, thank you for your comment.

      Thru The Bible is totally FREE and would really help you with understanding the Bible better. It is good to get the perspective of gifted teachers of the Bible. You can access the link to Thru The Bible from the page below…

      Keep reading the Bible, Florence, and someday I think you will want to give your soul to Christ for the ultimate understanding that He is the way to eternal salvation.

      John 14:6

      6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

      Christ be with you

  • Your site is very clean and well organized. You can tell you have a true passion for religion. You highlighted great choices in the scripture and knew what you were talking about from the start. This gave you an automatic guru status. As your reader we can tell you are an expert and are eager to learn. Are any of these verses your favorite? Which ones are your go to balance when life gets a little rough? The only problem I see in the entire site are a few grammatical errors and layout issues. Other than that its a very well drafted site. Kudos.

    • Hi Ashleigh, thank you for your encouraging comment and questions.

      I like from this article Proverbs 3:5-13 as it is a reminder of how much we need the Word of God and correction from the Lord at times.

      My favorite go to verse is…

      John 14:6

      6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

      because it keeps me centered on Christ and knowing that a terrible sinner (in the past and even still some) like me can get to Heaven by the grace of forgiveness as a gift of the blood of Jesus from God by believing in Jesus and repenting and trying to do better.

    • Thank you for your comment, Sujandar.

      I hope you learned how critical to our lives seeking God’s Word is, both now and eternal. Jesus saves and through Him we can know God, the Father, which is an exceptionally special relationship.

      God Loves You

  • Scripture is such an excellent weapon against many of life’s ills. Be it temptation, unhappiness, loneliness, confusion or whatever else. I read scriptures everyday, well, I try to anyway. And I know that they help me throughout my day to live a better life and become a better person than the one I was yesterday.

    Thank you for promoting truth and goodness on the internet that is often so full of lies and bad things.

    • Hi Mariah, thank you for your lovely comment.

      I am so glad for you that you know Jesus and seek God’s Word on a daily basis. The Bible truly has the answers to everything that ails you and I feel for those who reject as it makes for loneliness and unfulfillment.

      I like to offer people the FREE resource of downloading or listening online to Thru The Bible. This is Dr. J Vernon McGee’s effort to teach the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation. • Hello Alexander, once again I enjoyed reading your article so much. I have a long way to go to change my life and give myself to God, but thanks to your advice I feel closer to Him every day.

    I loved the prayer at the end of the post to accept Jesus in my life.Greetings, Pao.

    • The Heavens are truly rejoicing, Pao, that you have decided to live your life for Jesus.

      This first step you have made is called justification as it makes you justified in the sight of God and forgiven of your sins by the power of the blood of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. This is immediate.

      The next step is sanctification and this is something we all do for the rest of our lives to learn to live in Jesus’ example – we all have a long way to go in this regard, Pao, but it is very rewarding to learn more and more every day by studying God’s Word, praying and repenting.

      The final step is glorification when we enter into God’s Kingdom of Heaven for all of eternity by the power of Jesus when we pass away from our flesh life. It is so comforting to know you have a secure future and blessed home in the family of Jesus Christ.

      The next step for you, Pao, is I would recommend you find a descent Bible-teaching Church in your area to start attending and then look into the blessing of being baptized.

      You can probably google ‘Bible teaching Church in “your area”‘ substituting ‘your area’ with your city or town.

      You will get so much in terms of fellowship and learning from attending Church each week, Pao.

      Congratulations, You have rightly made the most important decision of your whole life, including eternity.

      Christ be with you.
